After a long phase of technical debate and an in-depth feasibility study, Duferco Travi e Profilati has commissioned Steele to carry out a major technological upgrade for its site in Pallanzeno (VB) and a new order has been signed. The order strengthens a long-established partnership and covers the supply of a rolled sections dual cut solution, designed and tailored to the customer’s specific production and process requirements, which is part of the project to expand the production range.

The new equipment pertains to the development project of the Piedmont site of Duferco Travi e Profilati and is aimed at improving quality and expanding the range of rolled profiles. The time schedule envisages planning and study in the last quarter of 2022, construction and development in early 2023, delivery and commissioning on site in spring 2023.

The solution will allow the processing of high tensile strength steel profiles thanks to an innovative cut and feed system for this type of product. The turnkey contract will also include all aspects of safety and 4.0 interconnection.

“Steele is a company providing innovative solutions, and the one we have designed for Pallanzeno is a major step forward in terms of range, flexibility and quality. The choice of Steele arises from the need to find a dynamic and flexible partner capable of following us through the various stages of project implementation during which it may be necessary to adapt the solutions to new emerging opportunities,” explains Massimo Lama, Pallanzeno Site Manager.

The project consolidates and expands Steele’s partnership with the steel companies of the Duferco Group and demonstrates the strength of Steele’s model among the big players in the steel industry. An innovative method, which did not even exist only a few years ago in steelmaking, has gained ground because it combines expertise and competitiveness, flexibility and speed of execution, and involves a wide network tailored to the specific requirements of each individual order. Steele’s main partners include Meccanica Center, Valtech and several companies in the supply chain related to digitisation and Industry 4.0.

“This new assignment is a great achievement for us,” comments Giorgio Ghini, CEO of Steele. A partnership that is renewed and consolidated with a project of great innovative and experimental value, an important challenge for Steele and its Network. The project fits perfectly with the current hot topics: sustainability, flexibility and energy saving. A tailor-made project that will contribute to the consolidation of the value of a group that strongly believes and invests in research and sustainability.

I would like to thank the entire Duferco TP team for trusting us, confident that the next six months will be filled with commitment and rich in satisfaction”.

On Thursday, 20 October 2022, at 3pm, Steele will hold a webinar entitled ‘The Steele method: opportunities for companies‘. The event will delve into the flexible approach of Steele’s solutions.

The event will be attended by Carlo Mapelli, Professor at the Milan Politecnico, Giorgio Ghini, CEO of Steele, Davide De Bella, General Manager Globus, Massimo Lama Director of the Pallanzeno site of Duferco.
