New project

In any scenario and in any business area, optimising machinery and work environments to protect workers is a priority.

How to implement safety measures while managing investments in the best way?

366,598 claims for accidents at work were reported to INAIL (Italian National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work) up to September 2020, showing a decrease of over 102 thousand cases compared to 468,698 reported in the first nine months of 2019 (-21.8%)*. This may seem a positive sign, but is largely due to the forced shutdown of most production activities between March and May because of Covid-19 containment measures, in addition to the difficulties encountered by companies in resuming full production during the post-lockdown period.

In these uncertain times, allocating a budget to invest in machinery safety and worker health protection requires an innovative approach.

To this end, Steele proposes a model which may offer an alternative capable of combining the multidisciplinary skills of its network of selected professionals and the know-how gained in specific areas with a multi-step and gradual approach, everything managed by a single contact person.

In fact, Steele manages safety measures by steps, thus allowing the customer to extend its investment time horizon while maintaining a proactive attitude towards worker protection and compliance with the increasingly demanding regulations.

Case history

Important companies, such as Cogne Acciai Speciali and Acciaierie Arvedi Spa, have already chosen Steele’s approach to ensure the most rigorous workplace safety standards. Highly-engineered projects paying careful attention to safety, which are concrete examples of tailored solutions improving product quality, while effectively managing problems related to accidents at work thanks to targeted safety interventions on production lines and areas to reduce worker exposure.

Targets

  • Implement safety measures for machinery and production lines that show criticalities;
  • Create working conditions to fulfil accident prevention certification requirements;
  • Optimise investment budget.

Steps

In safety matters as well, Steele acts as the sole contact of the customer during all the steps of the project, and specifically:

1

STEP 01

Analysis and design of any machine or system modification required;
2

STEP 02

Certification – after the intervention - of risk reduction and preparation of specific manuals by Rpower, evaluation of residual risks and establishment of operating procedures to maintaining risk level within the CE certification standards and in compliance with the Machinery directive.
3

STEP 03

Design and implementation of specific safety software thanks to the contribution of Valtec.

Project benefits

1

PLUS 01
